Kinguin secure semifinal over F3

Kinguin have eliminated FlipSid3 in the Group A decider match 2-1 (16-19 Overpass, 16-13 Cache and 16-6 on Mirage) at Dreamhack Winter. They will play Renegades in the semifinals tomorrow.

FlipSid3 picked Overpass as the first battleground and the two teams went blow for blow, as the CIS team picked up the pistol round as CT, but forcebuys reigned supreme early on and Kinguin came out the victor of the attrition and got to a 6-2 lead.

Andrey "⁠B1ad3⁠" Gorodenskiy and his soldiers managed to answer back a bit earlier before the second gunround with some pistols and came out of the 2v2 retake with scavenged rifles, B1ad3 himself defending his defusing partner. Two-round strings continued to be traded between the two teams, ending with for a 8-7 lead for the Poles.

Grzegorz "⁠SZPERO⁠" Dziamałek and company also took their CT pistol in a retake with Mikołaj "⁠mouz⁠" Karolewski getting a triple, and managed their funds well enough to buy back and reset the T-side at once in the 19th round, securing three rounds in a row for a 13-8 scoreline. FlipSid3 pulled back three of their own, largely due to the CT economy being dumpstered after their first loss.

That forced out a tactical pause from the Polish side, initially working out to secure them map point, Michał "⁠MICHU⁠" Müller stepping up in strong style, as he rotated just in time on to defend the B-site, resulting in a quad kill. No bank was developed for the CT-side as FlipSid3 answerred right back in a nailbiting 3v3 take of the B site and their methodical play got them back to equalise 15-15.

Kinguin were unable to either contest as CT in overtime or save guns, but nonetheless got one round back with an inferior buy to deny map point for the CIS squad, but only for a moment, as Yegor "⁠markeloff⁠" Markelov put down a brick wall on their CT side to close out the map 19-16.

Overpass & Cache were both slugfests

Second map of the series was to be Cache, and it was FlipSid3 that took early control of the first half on T-side, rushing on to the A-site with armor and pistols after losing the first round and nullifying the advantage that Kinguin had. Karol "⁠rallen⁠" Rodowicz's team scraped together two rounds, but the map control was firmly in control for the CIS squad overall, intelligently bleeding out the defenders utility.

After losing a 2v1 to a cornered B1ad3 the Poles took a timeout, which payed off for them as both mouz and MICHU simply started to win their engagements and slowed down the green offensive, the half ending 9-6 in favor of FlipSid3.

Kinguin secured another pistol, but again little did it do for any kind of round streak as the two dueling teams again traded rounds back and forth with a combination of scavenged SMG's and pistols, making the core of Envy proud. Naturally it took the hardest toll on the CT-side and the Polish side at last got some breathing room with three rounds in a row to equalise 11-11.

Georgi "⁠WorldEdit⁠" Yaskin's detachment took the lead back, but were immedieately reset on their economy and SZPERO's unit promptly seized the control taking the sites with surgical precision against the weak CT equipment. Jan "⁠wayLander⁠" Rahkonen and markeloff heroically defended a direct attack on B on their own to be just two rounds away from going into overtime again, but the Poles buckled down and closed out Cache 16-13.

mouz had a massive impact on Mirage

The semifinal spot was to be decided upon Mirage and this time FlipSid3 were able to stay cool in the anti-eco scenario on CT-side after they brought the Polish glock train to a halt in the pistol round.

WorldEdit was then instrumental following the first gun round to stop any build-up of T-side economy, first getting two openings with his favoured AWP and then closing out a 1v1 and in the next round he was all alone around the B plant spot and got himself a elegant quad kill, securing a 6-1 lead for his team.

The Poles did began to get rolling on their attacks, in part to a spectacular triple entry killing spree by low HP mouz as he cleaned the A-site completely and SZPERO managed the 1v2 afterplant with the AWP, pulling it back to a 5-6 deficit. The CT's had trouble taking any map control with limited grenades, and they lost the rest of the half's rounds, Kinguin taking the lead 9-6.

Damian "⁠Furlan⁠" Kislowski decimated the supposed A-take from the CIS team with a triple kill in the following pistol round, and B1ad3 and his team could not deal with the agression being put up by a now very confident Kinguin unit. The Poles ran away with the momentum to close out the map and series with a 16-6.

Kinguin will play against Renegades in the first semi-final tommorow, while the last semi-final spot against GODSENT will be decided between Cloud9 and Gambit.
